Eduard Oltra compra Expocom, empresa de comunicaciones y seguridad creada en 1980, a su fundador Rafael Arquimbau. Expocom factura 1,5 millones y el nuevo propietario se ha propuesto duplicar ventas en dos años.
Rafael Arquimbau creó Expocom en 1980 y la empresa continúa en el negocio de las telecomunicaciones, especializada en crear redes de comunicaciones móviles y de seguridad para empresas privadas y organizaciones públicas. Pero Arquimbau tiene 67 años y, sin relevo generacional familiar, decidió buscar un emprendedor joven que quisiera asegurar la continuidad del negocio y de sus 14 empleados.Y lo encontró, a través del programa ReEmpresa de la patronal Cecot, en Eduard Oltra, ingeniero de 37 años que venía del mundo de las multinacionales y tenía ganas de liderar un proyecto propio. “Nos conocimos en septiembre, empezamos a hablar… y firmamos a finales de febrero”, explican Arquimbau y Oltra. La venta de la compañía se culminará en un plazo de dos años, y el importe no ha sido desvelado. La operación ha sido intermediada por el bufete Diagonal Corporate Finance.
Expocom monta redes de comunicaciones, de videovigilancia, o control de acceso; entre sus clientes figuran policías locales, bomberos, centros comerciales (Ikea, Gran Via 2, L’Illa, Maquinista, Triangle…), el Circuit de Catalunya, el Funicular de Montserrat, Aena, el Museu de la Ciència de Barcelona, empresas como Kao Chemicals, Tercat Hutchinson, Clariant… Realiza instalación y mantenimiento de equipos en taller de reparación propio.
“Empezamos en 1980 con aparatos analógicos de primera generación, ahora parece la edad de piedra de las telecomunicaciones”, explica Arquimbau. La empresa ha evolucionado hacia el mundo digital; ha sufrido la crisis en las ventas, pero sus responsables aseguran que está saneada y factura alrededor de 1,5 millones de euros, con clientes en toda España. El nuevo propietario se ha propuesto duplicar esta cifra en el plazo de dos años. “Se necesitan muchas ganas, y yo ya no las tengo”, dice Arquimbau. “Hay nuevas tecnologías que están emergiendo, hay que desarrollar nuevos productos, y eso es para una persona joven”.
Eduard Oltra, ingeniero técnico de telecomunicaciones, máster en gestión de Tic por la Ramon Llull y MBA de Esade, ha trabajado en Abertis Telecom y Agfa Healthcare (de digitalización e imagen médica). Se dirigió a ReEmpresa el pasado verano, y ha contado para la operación con el apoyo de un socio financiero particular.
El acuerdo establece que Rafael Arquimbau permanecerá un año en la empresa, como asesor estratégico, “para realizar el traspaso de conocimiento de más de treinta años”. Eduard Oltra asegura que el suyo será un proyecto continuista, con el compromiso de mantener la plantilla. Arquimbau reconoce que “después de tantos años, es difícil dar este paso. Pero hay que dar paso a ideas nuevas, a una formación más actualizada”.
